About Me

Astoria, New York, United States
One day I dreamed an impossible dream. In the dream I saw Arsenal defeat Chelsea on December 15, 2007 at Ashburton Grove. I was surrounded by a group of my closest friends. If it weren't for this blog, I would have no idea how we got there.

GET WELLY!!!!!!

Don't have a terribly good feeling about tomorrow but, this photo of Martin Keown about to eat Ruud van Nistlerooy after Ruud missed a penal, gives me a warm feeling inside.

Come on you Gunners!!

Last Season at Anfield: A Tale of Two Arsenals.

All I know is, on our day, that we can DESTROY Liverpool. Last year we trounced them in the cup games, away from home, 1-3 in the FA Cup and 3-6 in the Carling Cup.

Our last league trip in the spring, however, ended in an embarassing 4-1 defeat, following a week of confidence-sapping performances in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

You have to fancy Arsenal's chances though after the 7-0 midweek exhibition over a crap team and Liverpool's 2-1 loss to another crap team during the Matchday 3 of Champions League.

Anyways, learn some songs, as it should be a cracking game, and hopefully the atmosphere at Nevada's will match.
UP THE ARSE!

...before I go allow me to set the scene for perhaps the greatest moment in Arsenal history.

Anfield 1989:
Last game of the season. We're one game back of Liverpool. Liverpool are unbeaten all season at home. We have to win by two goals to nick the title off of them. We're 0-1 up. Time is fast running out... (Note: Arsenal are actually in the yellow away strip and 'Pool in Red, so dress accordingly this weekend)

Haven't forgot about ye

Ticket Update:

The short of it is we're close to getting our precious tickets. The following email train to Arsenal America is the long of it:

Me:
Hello,

I PMed Rick B Jul 30 about getting four tickets for the Dec 15 home match against Chelsea on behalf of premium members goonertron, goodtobehleb, chocwhitman, and shulgun1.

Saw the new post regarding ticket questions and rather than pestering Rick B, I wanted to follow up with the "ticket bot" about the best way to go about learning of the status of my request.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

DeVon Jackson

ArsenalAmerica:

DeVon,

I'm going to say we don't have an exact answer to give to you right now because we're unsure on the amount of tickets we will be receiving for the match at this moment. Because this is a match many AA members would like to go to it would all depend on your spot in the request line. Rick B will contact you back when he can confirm with you he has your tickets secured and ask you to pay for them. Until then I'd ask that you continue to hold tight. It's good that you requested them early so hopefully we'll have positive news when we can CONFIRM your ticket request

Me (trying to be pushy without actually being so):

Thanks so much for your quick reply. It sounds like you guys are working extra hard to make this happen for us.

One last question: Can you give me a sense of time or thereabouts when I should rule out the possibility?

Promise I won't bother you all again 'til (fingers crossed) confirmation.

again, many thanks,
DeVon

ArseAm:

DeVon,

I know this can be an anxious wait period because i'm not sure if you guys have made all travel arrangements yet, but hopefully we should be able to let you know as soon as possible. Rick B will look though this when he's available and if he can give you an answer right away he will and will ask you to post in the proper thread that you're confirmed. If you don't hear back right away it means he's sorting his allotment for the tickets to see if he's able to accommodate your request. So again i'm sorry I can't give you any more solid details then that. Rick B is the only one dealing with the club directly for tickets so it would be only him that could give you the green light for confirming your ticket request. But like I said your request is in early as recommended so hopefully you're set, but Rick will need to confirm this to you. So please continue to wait until you hear back from Rick. We haven't forgotten you or lost your request so don't worry!

So there you have it. In the meantime we should have our flight and hostel sorted by this weekend. Found some great tickets on BA and will probably purchase those tonight.

Did I mention we've started the season on a world defining 2 game win streak? More on that later.

Them's fighting words Robin

Italian champions, Inter, the team we beat last Sunday, put 3 goals past English champions Manure in 15 minutes yesterday, to win 2-3. Granted it was a preseason friendly, but I'm beginning to feel really optimistic about the upcoming league campaign. Considering folks were saying Inter were far from full strength last Sunday (as if Arsenal were), I'd love to hear the parade of excuses for Utd's loss. And when you see interviews like the one below, I can't help but to get uncomfortably excited.....

Pure football. For the good of football. The Arsenal Way.

Oh, Robin. You say all the right things. You know, you don't have to say all this to have me...

Ahem. Anyways, we play Lazio today at 12:30 pm. Hopefully a good workout for the team. If we lose I will cry a little inside. But I will carry on. I say, I will carry on.
